Day 2: Pyramids and Civilization Museum Tour – Mummies Halls After breakfast, embark on a tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the sole museum in Egypt providing a comprehensive overview of its various historical periods. With over 50,000 artifacts, the museum showcases Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the present day.

Highlighting the museum is the Mummies Halls, known for the Pharaoh’s Golden Parade of 22 Royal Mummies. Notable figures like King Ramses the second, Queen Hatshepsut, King Thutmos the third, and Queen Ahmos Nefertary rest here. The Royal Mummies Hall is thoughtfully designed to evoke the atmosphere of the Valley of Kings, where many mummies were originally entombed. Explore the Main Exhibition Halls, displaying Egypt’s heritage through the ages.

Next, visit the iconic Great Pyramids – Cheops, Chephren & Mykerions. Cheops stands as the most colossal pyramid ever built. Followed by a close encounter with the Sphinx – a monumental funeral complex guarded by the legendary lion-bodied figure with the face of King Chephren.

Discover the Site of the Lighthouse, now the castle of Qaitbey, and explore the royal gardens of King Farouk. Visit the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, the memorial of the Unknown Soldier, and the statue of Alexander the Great.

If time allows, enjoy optional lunch before visiting the Church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa. Drive along the Cornish (30 km) for a panoramic view of Alexandria from the seaside. Return to your hotel in comfort.
